Through this service we offer a range of short course training, workshops and physical activity groups to support wellbeing, resilience and recovery.
Education and Activities are delivered by experts in their field and are designed to increase a person’s confidence and self-esteem. Recent courses have included: Art, Craft, Print-making, Literacy, Numeracy and Confidence Building.
Going on courses through Education & Activities has enabled me to gain confidence, learn new skills and be more independent. It has changed my social life as I now attend courses at the art college and the leisure centre.
You may be aware the current Big Lottery funding for the Wellskilled (Education and Activities) project delivered at Heffernan House comes to an end this summer.
This project has delivered some fantastic work and outcomes for local people and as an organisation; we recognise the value and benefits of an educational based approach to recovery and wellbeing. In our draft Strategy for 2017-2021, we have made a commitment to developing programmes that help people build their resilience and supports their recovery.
We are currently applying for funding and exploring ways in which we can build on the success of the Wellskilled project in the future. We are hoping that we will have heard about our progress over the summer months in order that we can share information with you about any future opportunities. We are hopeful that we will be able to provide some activities from the Autumn.
Please also regularly check our website or social media pages for updates and news.
Our courses and activities are currently funded by the Big Lottery fund.
If I didn’t have Education & Activities, getting out of bed would be pointless. It’s so important for people to have that focus and something meaningful to do.
