Today, Tuesday 11th July, is the opening day of the Art Exhibition at Hereford Library, a collaboration between Herefordshire Mind's WellSkilled project and the 31 Broad Street Group. Wellskilled provides invaluable support, as well as access to materials and a workspace, to a range of people with mental health problems.
The exhibition has been curated by Kate Seekings, who regularly attends WellSkilled art workshops. She said:
“The exhibition is a chance to celebrate the wonderful creativity of local vulnerable adults traditionally considered to be “on the edge of society”, for whom art is a voice like no other, which helps enable them to live independently (many have previously spent time in Stonebow and have relied heavily on NHS care) and even become economically active.”
Thank you to HALCO, who kindly donated all of the fixings and mounting accessories for the artwork. Special thanks to our staff team at WellSkilled - Val, Rosy and Steve - for supporting the artists on their creative journey. Most importantly, thank you to the artists helping to raise awareness of mental health through their creativity.
The exhibition is free and is can be seen during Hereford Library opening hours through July and August.
